How to verify an HMDA layout permission (LP) number
Every genuine HMDA-approved layout has a Layout Permission number. Here is how to check it and what to compare.
An HMDA approval is only as good as the permission number behind it. A brochure that says “HMDA approved” without an LP number is not evidence.
- Ask for the permission letterGet the LP number, date and a copy of the approved layout plan.
- Check with HMDALook up the permission on HMDA’s official website or ask at HMDA’s office.
- Match the detailsCompare survey numbers, village, extent, layout owner and number of plots with what you are being sold.
- Check draft or finalConfirm whether the approval is a draft (tentative) or final layout approval.
- Find your plotConfirm your plot exists on the approved plan and is not reserved or mortgaged.
Gram panchayat layouts inside HMDA
Inside HMDA limits, a gram panchayat cannot approve a plotted layout. A “panchayat approved” layout inside HMDA limits is a serious red flag.
